  name: extract-then-test
description: Extracts Android-free, Lua-free logic into its own class, pins current behaviour with JVM tests that must pass on the first run, then delegates. Use when covering Connection, Window, MainWindow, mapper, alias/trigger substitution, or when the user asks to extract then test / behaviour-preserving refactor.

  # Extract, then test, then rewire

God classes cannot be unit-tested because construction needs Lua and Android. Do not split them for tidiness. Pull out logic

  name: device-test
description: Writes a Polish on-device test card for the maintainer after a player-visible change. Use when finishing a feature that needs phone verification, after scripts/deploy.sh, or when asking them to tap, type, rotate, or read logcat.
  ---

  # Device test card

One physical phone, and it is not yours. `scripts/deploy.sh` installs; after that it is their hands. Status to the maintainer is Polish. The card is what they will actually do, not a description of the diff.

  name: probe
description: Adds device logcat instrumentation (BTPROF, TEMPORARY PROBE, SystemClock) so a suspected slow path or wrong mechanism is measured before code changes. Use when adding a probe, timing a path, reading logcat for a hypothesis, or when the user asks to measure before touching code.
  ---

  # Probe

A measurement is a fact. The explanation is a guess until the device has spoken. Do not change the behaviour you are investigating in the same commit as the probe.

  ## Steps

Work on branch `staging`. The maintainer decides what ships.

  ## Six rules

These are the ones that need judgment. Everything else that used to be on this
list is now enforced by a script, so you do not have to remember it. See
`docs/GUARDRAILS.md` for what is blocked and where.

  1. **Measure before you touch.** Reading this code has produced a confident,
wrong hypothesis at least six times. The device is the authority.
  2. **Say what you did not verify.** Every time. Never say "works" when y
